Victor Carabain
Slave Market in Cairo
Oil on canvas signed
Victor Carabain (19e-20e siècle)
École belge

Huile sur toile, signée en bas à droite.
This stunningly attractive portrait of a slave market in Cairo was painted by the well listed Victor Carabain who I believe was from south of France and painted beautiful arab scenes and wonderful exotic characters.
The workmanship and ability in this oil painting on canvas is absolutely superb and captures the whole persona of Egipt during the 1930’s in one flawless colourful and mint condition work of art. This painting which was crafted circa 1946 is one of two oils on canvas by the same artist, both of which are very interesting.
I just cannot praise this super painting enough, the colours are so fresh and vivid and the skin tones so superbly crafted it is quite simply a masterwork of fifties Post Impressionism and very much in the manner of famous orientalist painters.
